New year, new content trends! Over the past few months, we’ve been sifting through various reports outlining what trends will dominate this year and for today’s blog, we wanted to share a few that really stood out to us; especially through the Packsia lense. Let’s dive in! 

New year, new content trends! 

As we all know by now, the social media landscape is constantly evolving. One minute boomerangs are the top feature of Instagram and the next, we’re trying to anticipate when the BeReal alert will go off to get that perfect, unedited double-snap. As a millennial, I feel like I’ve seen it all and while it can be hard to keep up, I’ll admit I like how much the apps keep us on our toes as users, content creators, and marketers.

We’re almost two weeks into 2023 and I don’t know about you, but I have that excited/nervous feeling about all the possibilities this year could bring — especially when it comes to social media! Will a new platform arise to compete with the giants like Instagram and TikTok? What can we expect from the mysterious Metaverse? What will become of Twitter under it’s new ownership? 

While it’s nearly impossible for us to predict what will happen in terms of new features and platforms, we can predict what trends will rise to the top and which ones will, well, stay in 2022. Over the past few months, we’ve been sifting through various reports outlining what trends will dominate this year and for today’s blog, we wanted to share a few that really stood out to us; especially through the Packsia lense.

Trend #1 - Short Form Video 

You know we couldn’t start this blog without a little plug to the Packsia universe! Yes, we may be bias, but experts agree that the age of short form video content is only on the rise. Wyzowl reports that users now watch on average 19 hours of video content a week on their phones. From a marketing perspective, short form videos (IG Reels,TikToks, YouTube Shorts, etc.) actually account for 80% of all mobile data traffic. So, not only do short form videos get all the viewership, they also garner the most engagement out of any other type of content. Need we say more? 

Trend #2 - Memes 

With all the pop culture content out there these days, the meme life cycle is fast and furious. Every day, we are inundated with new hilarious content (who else misses all The White Lotus content?) that is shareable and relatable; and this is only going to increase in 2023. This just means that standing out in the meme world is going to be come increasingly difficult, so hey; why not add an eye-catching video behind your meme to really grab your followers’ attention! 

Trend #3 - Cause-Related Content 

While funny content goes along way, brands are now being closely watched for their cause-related content efforts. If you don’t stand for something, you’re likely to lose out on consumers who will inevitably choose one of your competitors that is. Showing your passion and giving back to the cause of your choice might sound hard to do online, but with our motion packs is can be easy! 

Try hosting an online fundraiser and placing the donation button over a video that works well with the cause. Or, share statistics on the matter and link to resources over top of a simple vertical video! There are tons of ways to show you care without having to sacrifice aesthetic. Trend #4 - Fashion, Beauty, and Skincare 

Okay, maybe this isn’t a trend, but this industry is one that is going to continue to dominate in 2023. If you are a fashion, beauty, or skincare brand that sells online — this year is going to be your year!
